Waiting for Something Official

As we move along in this process, we discover that, like most of what we seem to do, we're a little backwards. In most cases, we wouldn't find out who we were adopting until after the homestudy and things were done. But we didn't. We were given a profile to look at, and we accepted thinking that when the homestudy was done, it would all be official. Our homestudy is done, officially, and that's been approved and accepted, officially, but we don't "officially" get a referral until we've been accepted by the waiting child program. As Kevin & Sheba are older, and part of the Waiting Child Program, our application must be approved by the WCP as well, before becoming "official". SO, we had a final conversation with the woman that will be our advocate to the WCP in their meeting tomorrow, and we await the official word, that Kevin and Sheba will be ours.

In the midst of this little flurry of activity, we've been gathering notarized documents, sending off paperwork for visa clearance, and collecting this and that for submission of our dossier. We hope to have the last few things together by the end of next week. We will then be just steps away from it all being official. Then the wait will begin!

What are we doing in the meantime? :) We're still working on housing, raising funds to cover actual adoption fees, making lists of things we'll need to provide and working out resources such as translators and counselors. Yes, it's busy, but things are falling into place one by one and for that we're thankful. We're called to move forward until we can't, and that we do willingly.
