Oh how I hate the word fundraising!

When we embarked on this process, we knew we'd need significant assistance in the area of financing. We knew of the expense of adoption, but not exactly how it worked or what our final bill would be. It became important to us when we began to look at raising funds that we choose organizations (where we had a choice) and methods of fundraising that would in some way assist others, that would have some benefit outside of bringing our two kids home. We are committed to this and wanted to share the different methods we chose and the reason behind those choices with you.

We value giving to others above receiving, but recognize that in not asking we run the risk of hampering God's work in others. Rather than asking specifically for money to be given to us, we ask that you invest in the following options as you are lead:

Our "Kahawa (Coffee) for Kids" project: www.justlovecoffee.com/vandenhoeks
Through purchase of coffees and other products from our online store, you'll support not only our adoption but fair trade farmers and orphans all over the world. A portion of every product you buy comes directly to us. Our goal is 200 bags or products sold!

Brittany's Hope adoption fund: www.brittanyshope.org/seedling/vandenhoek
Brittany's Hope Seedling Fund is a matching grant program that utilizes donated funds to assist orphans worldwide. We have been awarded a matching grant, which means that the money we raise, up to $1500, is doubled! Gifts are tax-deductible and may be made online or via mail.

We are excited to have just been approved for a Both Hands project through Lifesong for Orphans! Tax deductible donations may be made at any time if you reference our account in the "gift preference" box: VandenHoek #2038 at www.lifesongfororphans.org/donation. But we will be adding a new link soon for our project, which we are most excited about! The Both Hands project we will be doing through our church creates a sponsorship opportunity for our adoption by assisting a local widow with home improvement projects. It's like sponsoring us in a 5k race, but we're helping local women with projects they couldn't do on their own! We will have more information coming on that including the project date, a link to donate, and other ways you can be involved!

Lastly, we've planned a $1 Sale for June 18th at the Armory building on Morton St in Newberg. We are seeking donations of clothing, toys, home goods, etc that we can sell for $1! This sale is open to the public and we're hoping will benefit the economy with low cost goods! We are willing to pick up any items you might have, but remember that all items will be sold for $1 and hang on to your heirlooms and Vera Wang fashions :)

We hope that our endeavors spark your curiousity, imagination and consideration of not only supporting us, but others in your communities! Our hope is that everyone that wants to has a way to participate in this adoption with us!
